In order to download or check if there is a download option for your device, HP Support needs to be visited to identify the correct device, because you can't download a driver for another component and expect it to work for you.

Yes, HP Assistant is available for downloading. By default, the application was pre-installed on some Compaq laptops running Windows 7 and Windows 8, but now you can download it from its official page hosted by HP.
There is actually no difference in terms of visual treatment. It's the same application only that there were fixed some bugs. This technique is called "under the hood fixing".
